Osteoporosis and ultrasonography
Osteoporosis is pathology related to the ageing of the population, in particular the female population. It often passes unobserved, as it doesn’t have particular symptoms; in most cases it is diagnosed only after a fracture, which is less important than the serious problems bones resistance already have, and that can be compromised with even smaller traumas. The bone ultrasonography of the heel is the best analyses to make in order to research osteoporosis even before being 50 years old. The reasons for checking this area are several: the studied area has a reduced thickness of the above fleshy parts, it has a high level of trabecolar bone and it isn’t subject to degenerative arthrosis pathology, often responsible of false positives.
Differently from the traditional densitometry, the ultrasonography is a more complete analysis as it is able not only to determine the density (calcium quantity) but also the quality (micro architecture) of the examined bone, allowing so to make at a reasonable price and without risks for the patient:
- an osteoporoses diagnose,
- a prevision of the risk of future fractures
- a monitoring of the effects on the bone of the pharmacological therapies used.

The stabilometric footboard
The stabilometric exam is used to establish if a certain kind of holding up erect (posture) is included or not in the limits of normality. Very sophisticated software checks how the weight of the whole body is unloaded on earth, and consequently how our balance center moves (barycenter). It allows helping to diagnose balance problems, to monitor the efficacy of the rehabilitative therapies, the legal medical evaluation of various secondary illnesses and cervical traumas.
